New Delhi, July 11 (IANS) Former Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Committee of Administrators (CoA) members vinod Rai and Diana Edulji expressed grief at the sad demise of co-member Lt. Gen. (retd.) Ravindra Thodge.

Thodge passed away at a private hospital in Nagpur, aged 64 on Friday night. He had reportedly complained of chest pain last week and underwent angioplasty as well.

Thodge was named as the third member of CoA in 2019 by the the Supreme Court, alongside Edulji and chairman Vinod Rai. He was made a part of the team after Ramachandra Guha and Vikram Limaye had resigned from their respective posts.

"Very distressed to learn of his sudden demise. He was an excellent asset in the COA as he had only the interest of the game at heart. The short time that he was with us he tried to introduce transparency and systems in the administration. He wanted a thorough re visit of the fund devolution formula as the players are still not compensated adequately. He was professional to the core and objective in his dealings My deepest condolences to the family. May his soul Rest In Peace," Rai told IANS.

"I am shocked to hear the sad news of the passing away of Lt. Gen. Thodge , May his soul rest in peace and God give the family strength to bear this huge loss," Edulji told IANS.

Thodge's illustrious army career spanned over 40 years after he began his journey with Gorkha Rifles in 1977. He was also awarded with several gallantry awards for his exceptional leadership in J&K. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.
