Kolkata, June 22 (IANS) Amid ongoing political violence in West Bengal, a person, said to be a BJP activist, died in West Burdwan district on Saturday after allegedly receiving a strong electric shock, police said.

"Gopal Chandra Pal's body was recovered at Berugram area... he was electrocuted," police said.

Local BJP supporters, however, alleged Pal was killed with an "electric shock" by criminals backed by the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Villagers and party supporters agitated before police, demanding arrest of the culprits.

Police did not confirm the political affiliation of the deceased.
